Meet the Team: Ashleigh

Here we go again, time to introduce you guys to the many brains behind Ārepa who help us keep the wheels turning and the Brainfood pumping

Seventh off the ranks is our Junior Designer, Ash. When she's not winning design awards or being a whizz on Photoshop you'll find her at the bouldering gym or playing tunes on her guitar!

Name:Ash

Position at Ārepa:Junior Designer

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me either at the bouldering gym or playing guitar in my bedroom.

Who is your Brain Hero and why?
Elyse Myers – she’s authentic, relatable, kind, and so much more. She brings humour into difficult topics, opens up conversations about mental health, and is a strong advocate for what it means to be human.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I appreciate working for a brand that places such a high emphasis on good design. It makes the job that much more fulfilling as I trust that every piece of design, whether it be internal or external, will always aim to be the best that it can be. I also love being part of a company that is genuinely making a positive difference in peoples’ lives.

It’s heartwarming to see some of the stories that come through and how much of an impact Ārepa has had on so many different aspects of wellbeing. Oh, and the team is pretty cool too!

What was your dream job growing up?
To be honest, I didn’t really have a dream job growing up, but I went through a few phases – I wanted to be an artist at one point, a furniture designer at another point, and then I was convinced I’d end up going into engineering. By the time I was 16, however, I had my heart set on design, and the rest is history.

The zombie apocalypse is coming - what three people would you want on your team?
My three besties. We’ll vibe together, then die together.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Learn to say no.

What’s your one mental well-being habit you like to do?
I love turning on dim lighting – it puts me in a better mood and helps me relax.

What inspires you?
From the people I surround myself with to the music I listen to, I find inspiration just about anywhere. Most of all, however, I’m inspired by people who have an unwavering passion for what they do.

If you were prime minister for the day, what change would you make?
I would subsidise sanitary products.
